Students enrolling at the Australian Trade Academy have a number of accommodation options. Our admissions office provides assistance to students in locating suitable accommodation, particularly for those new to the Colombo area.

The options include:

• Homestay - Homestay offers accommodation in a private home with a host family. Students are provided with a furnished bedroom with study space. The host often provides some meals, but the student typically covers their own travel, telephone, entertainment, and personal expenses. The approximate monthly cost in areas like Makumbura and Pannipitiya could range from LKR 15,000 – LKR 20,000 per month.

• Rented Rooms - Students can rent a room in a private house – this can be either furnished or unfurnished. Meals and utility expenses (electricity, water) are not normally included. Rent for a room in Makumbura or Pannipitiya typically varies from approximately LKR 8,000 to LKR 18,000 per month.

• Private Rental (Apartments/Houses) - A popular option for students is to share an apartment or house with fellow students. Rental costs vary depending on the type of property, its proximity to the campus, and inclusions. Rent for a shared apartment or house in areas like Makumbura and Pannipitiya usually ranges from LKR 30,000 to LKR 45,000 per person, per month (depending on the number of occupants and property size).
